Community Development Through Education

OUR MISSION

  • To further the common good and general welfare of horse racing throughout The United States and its territories.
  • To protect the interest of horses (of all breeds), horse owners, trainers, stable workers, jockeys, drivers, racing fans, and surrounding communities where racetracks and training facilities are located.
  • To promote public relations and public safety while building bridges with community organizations. Build a working relationship with the broadest coalition possible.
  • To create and implement community development programs with particular emphasis on homelessness, poverty, racism, and disenfranchised individuals and communities.
  • To establish a legal defense fund, educational fund, and training program(s).
  • To work with racing associations to hire health and safety inspectors as well as establish medical, dental, and mental health facilities and partnerships with existing facilities.
  • To ensure that all racetracks have libraries, learning centers, recreation areas, kitchens, and chapels.

PURPOSE

We should understand that we all have a purpose in life. That purpose continues throughout your life. Your abilities and talents change as you live and go through different stages of life. As you go through these stages in life, strive to keep the worry, the guilt, and the shame out of your mind. This frees you up to have ideas. These ideas become seeds, these seeds grow up and out, allowing you to commit to a life of purpose. In order to live your purpose, you must gain the knowledge necessary to live without living in fear. Remember, when you are living your purpose, that life is a journey. Trust that this journey is much higher, longer, wider, and much bigger than you can ever imagine. The cause of human equality is a promise for all, and something we should all invest in.

UNLOCKING THE GENIUS IN YOU!

The War On Poverty, homelessness, Alcohol and Drug Addiction, Crime and Corruption, Mental Illness, Affordable Housing, Etc. Performance is better than promise: A Bold Call To Action! for those who would lead well and those who would be well led. Making government work or holding many poor citizens back, is now the question for our Political Establishment? We’re looking mostly to high school and college students, to solve these problems with the human condition.

INTRODUCTION

Third World Countries ask, why the United States-being the world’s most powerful and richest country, can’t solve its own problems. For example, when it comes to poverty, homelessness, alcohol and drug addiction, crime and corruption, mental illness, affordable housing, etc. Moreover, by building programs to help solve these problems. Racetracks can be a vehicle to carry these ideas and programs to 38 States and to over 100 Race courses in the United States. The facilities at the racetracks could become a model when we think of building Shelters for these needy individuals. These Shelters will be a temporary solution while the needy are waiting for a more permanent solution to obtain life necessities. Racetracks have space for many activities. Music, Art and Craft festivals, pony races, pony rides, 4-H Clubs events where people can see animals up close. Parks can be built in the infield where special events can be held.

Racetracks have established non-profits. New non-profits can share office space with existing non-profits. The idea is to connect these racetracks to the Community where racetrack are located. Community engagement is very important. Oversight, Accountability, Transparency’ is very important as racetracks can become a blight on the community. First and foremost, please share these ideas and ask for ideas from others. The plan is to put this program, My Brothers Keeper Horsemans Association, Inc., into Schools and Universities as it is for communities where race courses and training facilities are located. Children will share their ideas with their Parents, Teachers and Professors as they will be asked for their input. Students can learn at an early age to look forward to their future. Students can learn financial planning, to write business plans, apply for grants for education and business funding. Horsemen can provide accountability, oversight and transparency by having boots on the ground. They will develop a training and policy manual. Set goals, have a vision for the organization and community while developing a plan of action. They will make sure that all funds allocated for a certain project, goes to that project.

Horsemen will work with the Community to build strong teams. Their focus will be on Community development, education, legal assistance, finance and public safety. Horsemen will build partnerships with Community leaders to establish a strong local economy. By doing this work in the Community where racetracks are located, people will learn to deal with the needs of people those close to them. Horsemen will work with existing public safety teams, work to add Safety Ambassadors, Security guards and street cleaners where necessary. They will work as agents of deterrence, to be there in a case of an emergency. Psychotic episodes, drug overdose, to help homeless people living on the streets, drug dealers offering people drugs on the street. These teams will help to identify green spaces that can be used for parks. There can be Chess and Checkerboard tables. Corn hole boards, building blocks and games for the children. Food trucks and drink stands can be available, places to plant fruit and vegetable gardens.

Dallas Mavericks, owner Mark Cuban, said, “There are too many charities and not enough charity.” But charity begins at home. Indeed, Charity begins at home but it should not end there.By cultivating an environment with a life of service and generosity, while showing gratitude in your home and community, Children will learn from these experiences and follow them throughout their entire lives. The best way to gain success is to work with and learn from successful people. Staying true t0 your values and goals is very important. Search for new ideas to support them by listening and learning from others. Service to humanity is the best work of life.

VISION

As we know that race tracks are a community within a community or communities. We’re working to build a boots on the ground strategy, directly in-person, to bring awareness about unsafe and unsanitary conditions that can pose risks for health and safety in which it involves hazards or illness in these communities or employees at these race tracks. Transparency, oversight, and accountability is not optional in this matter; it is foundational to Democracy. To make sure that citizens can participate in decision making and that the public trust in government is maintained. Also, they’re essential for ensuring that government officials are held responsible for their actions. They ensure that governments are responsive to the public, prevent corruption, and to promote trust in institutions. These elements are crucial for holding the governments accountable as it empowers citizens to know what their government is doing with citizen’s tax dollars and other funds and to demand accountability when necessary. The aim is to inform, educate, and elevate the business risk-takers, citizens and innovators who are creating the future by building with new ideas in our communities. The main goal is to unite businesses, non-profits, governments, to new technology management tools and resources to better serve the needs of the community. This is very important, especially when it comes to financial literacy, programs that emphasize native cultures, values, language, and self-determination. Developing a strategy to raise your vision is vital, by learning how to communicate your vision to the community effectively. Building a supportive community is a collective effort. As a team you can turn the “overwhelming into the achievable?” Empowering leaders with training and resources, while building relationships to create a strong healthy community. An important goal in this strategy is to develop a data-driven culture in the community school district for whole child development and continuous improvement.

CAPTURING WHAT SO MANY HAVE CATALOG BEFORE!

Poverty is not a lack of character, but a lack of cash. And it is poverty not the solutions for it – that cost us dearly, to the tune of $1 trillion annually, compounded by the immeasurable loss of our children’s dreams and potential. Imagine what we could do if we eradicated child poverty altogether. Megan A. Curran, PhD is the Policy Director of the Columbia University Center on Poverty and Social Policy, a Public Voices Fellow in partnership with The OpEd Project and the National Black Child Development Institute.

When thinking of the problem of poverty and the fight for human equality, we must remember that we have and will always have the poor. People stuck in unsafe, high-taxed communities with low incomes affect their standard of living and sometimes cause them to become homeless. The crucial point in this fight is whether all people in democratic society have the opportunity to share the benefits of economic growth in this wealthy nation.

A LIFE OF SERVICE

There is nothing morally wrong with building wealth for your family and yourself. There is nothing morally wrong with building statues and monuments to yourself. There is nothing morally wrong with not doing something that others want you to do. But if you are the one feeling a drive to do something with your life that is more meaningful and permanent, something in the service of others, a cause greater than your own self-interest, something that might change lives for the better, then do so. A life of service to protect the innocent, especially children and victims of disenfranchisement.

“Children living in poverty are deprived of nutrition, water, and sanitation facilities, access to basic healthcare services, shelter, education, participation and protection, and that while a severe lack of goods and services hurts every human being, it is most threatening and harmful to children, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, to reach their full potential and to participate as full members of the society.”

Great ideas to solve complex problems can be found by looking at every day, seemingly insignificant details or experiences in life. Simple ideas can sometimes lead to innovative and effective solutions.

Our Programs

Education

We believe poverty is not a lack of character — it is a lack of cash, and a lack of opportunity. Our education programs address this by investing early, supporting consistently, and demanding results.

• Early Childhood Learning based on the Perry and Abecedarian Projects — proven models that show the lifelong benefits of early education.

• After-School & Tutoring Programs to ensure children don’t fall behind.

• Financial Literacy & Leadership Training to prepare youth for real-world success.

• College & Trade Readiness to achieve 100% high school graduation and post-secondary enrollment.

Our goal is simple but ambitious: every child in racetrack communities will graduate and succeed.

Housing & Safety

Safe housing is the foundation of community development. Yet racetrack dormitories are plagued with hazards and neglect. We are committed to

• Transforming racetrack dormitories into safe, winterized shelters.

• Creating pathways from temporary shelters to permanent housing.

• Enforcing OSHA standards, disability compliance, and housing codes.

• Establishing independent inspections for public health, safety, and animal welfare.

• Protecting whistleblowers who expose unsafe conditions.
Training community safety teams to reduce crime and rebuild trust.

Housing is not charity — it is justice.

Youth Development

Young people are not the leaders of tomorrow — they are the leaders of today. Our youth programs equip them with the confidence, skills, and discipline to lead communities out of poverty.

• Children’s Army of Abolitionists: Youth mobilized to fight poverty, crime, and ignorance.

• Martial Arts & Fitness Therapy: Discipline, strength, and resilience through physical wellness.

• Summer Jobs & Workforce Training: Employment paired with financial literacy and leadership.

• Leadership & Equality Training: Teaching accountability, service, and responsibility.

• Mental Health Programs: Therapy and prevention to protect vulnerable children.

When youth are empowered, communities change.

Advocacy & TED Talks

Our work is not just local — it is national and global. Through TED Talks, public speaking, and media campaigns, we expose systemic injustices and share solutions that work.

Key Messages We Share

• Poverty is not a personal failure — it is a systemic injustice.

• Early education (Perry & Abecedarian) prevents crime, boosts success, and transforms lives.

• Children should never be used as bargaining chips in political fights (e.g., CHIP healthcare funding).

• Global models like Habitat for Humanity Global Village, The Blue Envelope Program, and The Community Brigade show that collaborative, grassroots action works.

• Mental health prevention is critical — because poverty untreated becomes addiction, crime, and illness later in life.

Speaking engagements give us a voice. Media advocacy gives racetrack families visibility. Together, they hold institutions accountable and push for systemic reform.

Our Vision for the Future

We envision racetrack communities that are no longer hidden places of poverty and neglect, but national models of justice and opportunity:

• Every child graduating high school and pursuing higher education.

• Families living in safe, permanent housing.

• Youth leading communities with discipline, service, and equality.

• Racetracks reimagined as shelters, kitchens, chapels, recreation spaces, and learning centers.

• A generation of children raised to believe in their worth and empowered to abolish poverty.
